Since I’ve moved to New England about two years ago from Colorado, I’ve been going through a big depression due to the pain in my hands and legs and the difficult time I’ve had transitioning into a new lifestyle. My pain started when I sprained my left wrist, but it has spread to the both hands and fingers. It has drastically restricted what I am physically able to do: I can no longer lift objects, sew, or hammer, meaning that I can’t garden or decorate my home! Since I could no longer do what I enjoy most, it seemed like my life was going to be void of any fun.
One day, while I was in Marshalls, a cute little notebook caught me eye. It had the following written on its cover:
“Enjoy the little things in life, for some day they will be the big things.”
From that moment, I started to think about what “little things” in my life would eventually “be the big things.” I realized that sharing and archiving my passion for and experience in design through a blog would start out as a small hobby, but perhaps develop into something big. So I jumped onto the computer with absolutely no knowledge of blog building, but through the help of WordPress and Responsive theme, I created my first website. Many many trial and errors I had.
It has taken me a couple of weeks to figure out how to set up the blog, but I finally feel that I am ready to add my first post. I still don’t know exactly what I want to do with my own site, but the notion that “the little things becomes the big things some day” still lingers in my mind and gives me enthusiasm and great hope that this little hobby will someday be big. So with the inspiration I have gained a small notebook, I am determined push passed what I can’t do and focus on what I can do. Yeah! I am still young(40s), and I still can start something new and learn something new, especially with my love of design and arts, which isn’t little at all!
Even right this moment, I still have pain in my hands and fingers. Although this pain lives with me all day long, I will joyfully live with the dream that some day my blog can encourage and inspire others to “enjoy the little things in life.”
