We have a table where we, family of 5, eat and read, do homework and craft, preparing food… You name it all. On the table, there was a lamp and it made our table very crowded and still didn’t provide sufficient light. So, for a long time, I was thinking of the ways of having a ceiling light and finally I chose one option.
One day, I was shopping at Lowes and I happened to see a 3-light bathroom light fixture for a reduced price.
These are the stuffs I used for a basket light fixture.
The wire basket is a good frame for a lamp shade and burlap can hide ugly part of the light fixture, but still lets the light shine through it. As you can see above, the bathroom fixture didn’t fit into the basket, so we cut it to fit.
And we wired it, hung it using invisible cord and wrapped the wire with yarn.
For a lamp shade, I cut burlap into pieces and sewed them together.
And… Here it is!
Now, beautiful, subtle light glows and shines through the burlap and gives us enough light to our family gathering space. We love it!
